    Default Fishing Fontenelle 6-03-2021

Met up a friend at his Cache Valley home 0330. We ventured off thru Logan Canyon taking in the darkness with conversation traveling to Fontenelle on backroads. Its been years since I've been on these roads past Bear L heading towards Wyoming but travel was good. We got on the water about 0630ish and first rods in near 0700. It didn't take very long to see action. My first 4 hookups were Browns, Alan was getting into the kokes and 3 in the box before I knew it. It turns out that the kokes were high in the column so I raised my presentation and went a longer setback. Koke on from then on with occasional Brown & Bow hookups in the mix. We lost about 12+ kokes, caught our limits of 6ea, boated about 10+ Browns & about a half a dozen of Bows, Browns/Bows released. This was one epic day trip, a great day going after some feisty Fonts, we couldn't have asked for a better morning with a slight breeze & no sheep in the pen. We were off the water before 1000.

Sounds like a great trip. I have heard allot about that place but I have never fished it.

Have you had a chance to eat any of the kokes yet, if so how did they taste?

Default Water level and launch spot?

Hi, those look like some healthy kokes. Good job. Is the water level high enough to launch at the north ramp near the campground or did you launch near the dam? We were there a few weeks ago and used the ramp near the dam because of the low water.

Yes they are some healthy kokes. We launched near the dam. Its a steep ramp and water level is at 53% full. I wouldn't know of the other ramps availability to launch.

Fished Sunday, April 24 2022. Landed 9 Kokanee. Lost at least that many! 15-19”, and very fat. Lots of rainbows with a a few browns and cutthroat, some toads. Water was 44 in the morning 47 in the afternoon. All fish in the top15’ of water…

Thanks for the report Dorado, I didn't think ice off already happened. I'll be making plans soon with a friend to spend a couple of days there.
