    Default headed out Wednesday

Finally able to get a time worked out for our annual trip to FG. We'll arrive at Lucerne Wednesday through Sat morning giving us a couple days to explore both directions from Lucerne. We were late getting reservations and hope to find a walk up site for duration so don't have to move camp every day. Let us know if you have any key intel to share and we'll do the same.

    Tight lines.

Spent first day down around Hideout working around a couple nets that DNR had put out. Enjoyed watching the fledgling Osprey and picked up a couple kokes to ensure camp dinners plus what teuned out to be largest one of trip, maybe 3 lbs. Later had some kicker moter troubles that worked themselves out after we took off cover and raised and put down motor. Best we could figure is some sort of vapor lock. Anyway, ran great rest of trip.

Went north to Anvil and Wildhorse second morning and had to work hard for the five kokes we brought back. Ended up getting last couple north of Stateline.

Last morning went back north of Stateline under a mostly cloud cover and had a great bite to reach daily limit by 8:30 plus a few rainbow and laker pups. Fleet was out in force by then so we cleaned and stowed boat before heading to dock for trip home.

As to lures, almost all on tsunami dodger followed by squid, pink or orange theme worked equally well. Did get couple on pink apex first morning, but not thereafter. All 30 - 40 ft, nothing deeper. Also, 1.8 to 2 mph was key, perhaps owing to the dodger combos we were using. Finally, again reconfirmed our preference (and effectiveness) for single hook set up with the hoochies lures and the use of Chamberlain releases. Sure make fishing a lot more fun for us.

    Tight lines.

Thanks for the report. Water temps are finally climbing to the point that releases are difficult. The unstable weather this summer sure has been weird also. The freezer has room for a few more fish and then it will be time to get the canner out and get to work.

Very good, Dave. The 6 fish Utah limit is a real bonus for us. We carefully planned (hoped) to take home our full Utah possession limit, not go over daily limit, while having two great koke dinners while there - what a joy for us!.
