Salt Lake City DU fishing contest
The DU chapter from Salt Lake had their tournament last week. The winning fish traditionally is over 4 pounds. None over 4 lbs were registered this year. The theory from one long time local fisherman for the smaller sizes this year is that the great exchange of water from high run off is keeping water temperatures low and preventing the growth of the zooplankton that the Kokes feed upon. The current water temp is 59 degrees.

i was there for the du event and lake trout bite was terrible and lakers under sized , the kokes are a bit smaller also .i think the cold water is the issue , kokes need plankton to grow and plankton needs the sun and warmer temps to gt going . i will tell you the kokanee bite is really good right know .
