    Kokanee have been spawning the last couple weeks along the northsore of Loon Lake. The eagles are having a feast.

    It’s amazing to watch the circle of life. If you look close, you can see just how many things depend on the spawn. I’ve see trout as long as your arm and crawdads the size of small lobsters getting in on the action.

    I noticed a type of duck that always shows up this time of year a feeds close to shore. I wonder if they might be eating the kokanee eggs. Is that possible?

    Very possible. It is also possible that the duck likes to eat something else that is there to eat the eggs. It is a true ecosystem.
