Thread: Kokes

    Default Kokes

Are the overcast days better? I’ve been fishing a lake here in CT and get very few kokes on the sunny days. We can go weeks without catching kokes. The lake isn’t deep, i was wondering how to catch them on sunny days. The fish are all on the larger size, not many small fish being caught. The larger fish don’t like the sun.

My experience in general is that sunny day with flat calm water can be a little tougher. Even a slight breeze to add a ripple to the water makes a significant difference. If you are fishing shallow, try planer boards to get your presentations away from the boat.

I noticed another lake with smaller kokes fished well in the sun. Those bigger fish just don’t like it. I’m down 25-35 feet this time of year. The lake is 60 feet at its deepest. The deep end produces nothing, most caught 25-35 down in 45 fow.
