Default October 27, At the Gorge

We went fishing Friday and really had some nice weather and caught some nice trout. A little cool at launch time but the sun and no wind made a very comfortable day of fishing. We launched at Buckboard and went north. There was just a little fog on the water and was not a problem with visibility like it is some times in the fall. The water temperature was 49.4 degrees.

What worked for us was mostly small jointed Rapala Shad Raps. We kept 8 rainbows with the largest 2 being near 3 pounds each. We also caught a couple on pop gear and worms.

Keith, what depth were the fish at? At 49 degree surface temp I'm just curious where the fish are hanging out. Also, did you just go up for the day or spend the night?

We caught some just flat lining with those Shad Raps because they dive sort of deep. On the down rigger one was at 15 feet and the other at 20 at about 2.2 mph. Later in the day we just flat lined pop gear as slow as the boat would run which was about 1.5 to 1.7 mph. If I tried slower the motor would start to die. That pop gear was really working but we already had a limit.

We live in Green River so it was just a day trip for us.

    Regards
