I have loved having the cooler seat. With a few blocks of ice it stays cold for days upon days. I decided to do a couple improvements this off season. The cheap plastic corners that are sold for mounting the cooler don't last a very long time in the sun. It is as if they aren't UV tolerant. Mine became brittle and crumbled.

My fix was to use some aluminum angle to make new guards to prevent it from sliding.

My next modification is an infomercial for Flex Seal. This is the second project that I've used the product on my boat and so far really pleased with it. I had added a sheet of foam insulation to my lid but didn't care for the raw surface look. A couple of coats of Flex Seal with a 1/4" nap roller and it has the same orange peel look as the cooler lid.

Last but not least is the addition of weather striping at the lid edge to get the air tight seal.
