Took my boat up to LP yesterday (5/18). My buddy and I fished from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Although we brought home 9 very nice Kokanees ( one 16 1/2", several over 15"), it was fairly slow given how long we were out there. With 4 lines in the water, it was very hit or miss throughout the bay and in the upper channel in front of the marina. Couldn't get dialed into them in any one location. Marked plenty of fish in the teens and 20s, they just didn't seem to be biting much. Used lead weights (1 to 3 oz) to get down to the fish. Used Sling blade, Gary's Gear dodgers, and Ford Fenders. Used various hoochies, spinners, wedding rings and various colors. No one combo/color seemed to be better than any other. Caught a few fish at each depth we fished (1oz, 2oz, and 3oz, ~80 clicks out on the reel counters). Ended up with maybe 12-15 hits each for the day, but many never hooked up. And we lost 3 Kokes at the boat. So, not a bad day. In fact, a great day! A day spent Kokanee fishing is always a great day, just a little better when there are Kokes in the cooler on the way home.
