Took my boat up to LP yesterday (5/18). My buddy and I fished from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Although we brought home 9 very nice Kokanees ( one 16 1/2", several over 15"), it was fairly slow given how long we were out there. With 4 lines in the water, it was very hit or miss throughout the bay and in the upper channel in front of the marina. Couldn't get dialed into them in any one location. Marked plenty of fish in the teens and 20s, they just didn't seem to be biting much. Used lead weights (1 to 3 oz) to get down to the fish. Used Sling blade, Gary's Gear dodgers, and Ford Fenders. Used various hoochies, spinners, wedding rings and various colors. No one combo/color seemed to be better than any other. Caught a few fish at each depth we fished (1oz, 2oz, and 3oz, ~80 clicks out on the reel counters). Ended up with maybe 12-15 hits each for the day, but many never hooked up. And we lost 3 Kokes at the boat. So, not a bad day. In fact, a great day! A day spent Kokanee fishing is always a great day, just a little better when there are Kokes in the cooler on the way home.

Nice day for fishing. We put 24 in the boat in a couple hours. Started at the ramp and worked across the dam face. Put 5 or 6 on there. Headed up and dropped back in at Indian Crk and trolled up to Canyon and back. Saw another boat, looked like a Crestliner with a red stripe, they were boating several fish every 10 minutes or so. That boat was spinning around fairly tight in the mouth of Canyon Crk. Didn't want to bother them, so trolled back to Indian and quit for the day.

Very nice size fish compared to last few years.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow! I'll be the ugly guy in the 1-man pontoon! If anyone is willing to let me on a REAL boat I'll flip the fuel bill and clean the boat! I can fish! Let me know otherwise you will see me bobbing and weaving in the wind and you will be stuck with a guilty conscious if I drown! Peace!

Went up to the derby, was nice meeting some other koke fisherman, didn't win but landed some nice kokanee and one perch.
They are on the smoker now.

I thought the problem was me. I mostly never see any pictures that were downloaded onto the forum server, just error notice when clicked - except of course my own photos work for me. Only ones that are stuck somewhere else and linked do I see of other posters photos.. I don't currently have a place to stick photos so I tried the server again. I'll see if I can do something else.

Whoa, ricks, those are decent kokes! Suddenly, excitement abounds in the Dworshak kokanee community.

Go get them Ken and Barb, I will look for you on the reservoir after I finish Springer fishing.

Fished about 5 hrs today at LP, started at 11:00Am. Took home 6 Kok. size from 14" to 16.5". Released 4 small kok 1 trout and 1 perch. 2 long line poles with Ford Fender + Kokabow Kestrel + white corn 100' line out. 10' DR with copper dodger + pink squid. We caught 3 kok by the dam then no bite for along time. About 2:30PM then there were action again at Spring Shores. It was a nice day and fishing wasn't bad.

    Default Salmon on

I had a great weekend, well besides the rain on Sunday! I caught one 8 lb Chinook on Sunday and one six lb Chinook on Monday. I also caught a 23in trout as a honorable mention. No kokes.

    Default Anderson 5/21-22

We fished Anderson most of Saturday and for a couple of hours on Sunday morning. We ended up with 20 koks. No Chinooks. We did catch two squawfish of approximately 3 lbs. First time I have seen that. Used microhooch, rollerbaits, and kokabows. Kokabows outperformed in pink and green. Also did well on black- probably due to the weather (black skies and squalls). Good test of rain gear this weekend. The lake is completely full. There is no beach anywhere. I wonder how that will affect the memorial day crowd. Anyway, I thought I would share. We lost a few but landed more than half of the fish hooked. We did the best within site of the ramp in what I think was surprisingly shallow water with most fish less than 15 ft deep. Again may have been due to the weather.
