Default Banner Day At Nantahala Lake

Got back from my trip back to Florida. Hit the lake this morning and had a great day. Caught 5 kokes 16" to 18" before the storm clouds started to gather(live to fish another day). Caught them 30' to 42' down. Lost two others.Click image for larger version.

    Trout Tracker,

Nice fish - I Googled where you were since I'm from Washington State and didn't have a clue. Looks like a really beautiful area. Does the next lake have kokes too? It must be a dandy at 12,000 acres in size.

    Tight lines,
    Alan

Great job Ron, I'm still waiting on my granddaughter, hope to get out there in two weeks or so. Stay at them.
Mark. downriggeral- No kokes in Fontana that we know of . Might be some flushed out of Nantahala, but have never heard of any down there. And none in any other NC lakes.

Downriggergal, I wish I had a lake that big to fish in. I'm in Ct. and we just have a couple of small lakes with kokes in them. They are like only 300 acres in size and 60' deep max. On of my friends did get the new state record koke here a couple of years ago. It was 19.5" and 2.885lbs. Most of our fish are in the 10-14" size.

Hi Trout Tracker, We are so spoiled out here in eastern Washington state. Many, many lakes with kokanee and trout. One of my favorites for trout is Rock lake, 60 miles from home. It has German browns and trout. It's 8 miles long a mile wide and 400' feet deep. I believe the state record German Brown lives there and has yet to be caught. I never landed any over about 8#....they always manage to break you off on the trout gear!

Tight lines and happy Fourth to you - Alan

Another banner day at the Nantahala. Caught these 4 16"+ kokes this morning. Attachment 6511 The bite is really on. Sorry no picture of me this time as my wife was out shopping. These kokes will grill up excellent on my new Weber Spirit grill.

    Default Life is Good

Got off to a late start. Heavy lake fog did not burn off till about 10 am. Then I could find the kokes. Finally I nailed one. Had it for dinner. The kokes are definitely going deeper.Click image for larger version.

Nice Kokes. I will be down in that area for business soon, and will check out that lake.
