    Default Gorge Report 4-7-13

We just got back from our 3 day trip to the Gorge. The weather was hit and miss with some rain, wind, sleet, and sunshine. We put in at sheep creek and fished north of there. We trolled for Kokes and lakers, jigged for lakers and burbot. In the end we caught a limit of two year old Kokes and a handful of nice rainbows. A couple of the bows went over 20 inches, we also got into some burbot one evening out on the East side of Antelope flats. The Kokes all came off of either a white of green hoochie behind a silver and pink doder and ablask/white flasher. The highlight of the trip was the 36 inch larker we caught. It maxed out my 25 pound scale, but I'm guessing it was right around 30 pounds. My daughter and dogs really like the live well! All in all a great trip! Click image for larger version.

We hooked it on a St. Croix legend medium action rod with 8 pound test.... so it took a while. It was fun because we could see it on the fish finder. We had it all the way up to 25 feet then it made a great run back down to almost 90 feet. All in all it was about a 15-20 min fight. Definitely a fish to remember!
