Default If you could only have one scent.

This is probably a well beaten horse, but .If you only had one or two scents what would you likely reach for? A good one for me this summer was Mike's Glo-Anise Shrimp(or is it Mike's Glo-shrimp Anise),either way it sounds funny and works well. TM

Sounds like we could fish together just fine without getting the bottles of scent confused. It is my #1 kokanee scent and my #2 go to trout scent.

Carp spit works for me and keeps the young ones amused and trying to figure how you get a carp to spit, let alone collect it.

    # 1 garlic powder right out of the cupboard put it on the night before # 2 Tuna oil. I have several other scents I leave at home they don't work for me.

For years garlic has seemed to out fish other scents on my boat.

Glad to see someone else use's what my buddy and I call "Magic Corn" but we use a generous spoon full of minced garlic instead. Often wonder if it would work just as well without the tuna oil but why mess with a good thing? lol

I have only been using Pro Cure products, with great success (trophy trout, anchovy, herring) but has anyone noticed a difference between the others? like Mikes or Smelly Jelly, and do they last any longer, shell life that is.

I've been told the best way to preserve your scents is keep them refigerated at 40% if not replace every year/my wife a firm believer to replace every year. because we don't keep them at 40% degrees. We just leave them in the boat and such.

I like to use daphnia. I us a mortar and pestle to smash up frozen sterilized daphnia (hikari bio pure brand) and let is soak into the corn. I make it at least a little over 24 hours before using it fishing. I am sold.

Where in the world would you find those little water fleas to do that with? Who sells something like that?

Pet stores such as PetCo have them in their fish food freezer.

I have tried this but with little success, I think I may have the recipe wrong.

Remembering, what is your ratio of daphnia to corn?

I'm curious also... do you add an oil or something to get it to stick to the corn?

Pro Cure also makes a "Scent free" gel. For guys interested in home brews, this could be a good base to mix with your concoctions.

Please provide your reference to a Pro-Cure "scent-free" gel. What good would a gel scent be if it had no scent? It would just be "gel" with no purpose. Perhaps you are referring to gels/lotions designed to remove human scent from your hands before baiting your lures? I just left the Pro-Cure web site, and they have no such product as a "scent-free" gel and also didn't have a listed product to remove scent from your hands.

    Lou,

I think I expressed the benefit of a "no scent" gel. It will make a gel base for any home brew scents you'd like to mix with it.
