Don, I can't even imagine fishing in a 16'er again. But it will probably feel like a dance hall if you are used to a 13'er. If you are making a step up because you're tired of the size of your current boat, I recommend jumping 2 sizes, so in your case, an 18'er. Often jumping one size is only a fraction less than going the extra 2'. And a year later you aren't kicking yourself for not going that extra step. When I moved up from my 16'er I had a 19'er in my sights. At the last minute I jumped to a 21'er. It took a couple extra years before I started wanting a bigger boat again. LOL!

Thanks Dave, Your input is appreciated.
Being retired now I am trying to stay within my budget but I know there are a lot of used boats available.
Iwill indeed look at 18's also

I agree with Super D, I went from a 14' boat to a 16' and now I wish I had gone bigger. I would also look into the size waters you plan to fish. My biggest complaint with my boat is the sides are not high enough, it gets a little scary when the wind kicks up on the larger lakes.
What's your budget Don? Washington is where all my CA friend's go to buy a used boat so you should have a ton of inventory to choose from. Are you monitoring some specific sites?

I like this boat better than the Smokercraft 162's layout and small power plant. Most of the Smokercrafts I saw listed online all had 40 - 50 HP output.

I'm just starting to research and probably won't pull the trigger until next year. I do like the boat you picked above and the cost is in the ballpark but one other thing I need to be mindful of is something that can go in my garage. Depth isn't so much the issue as height and width.

i am going down to a 16' boat from an 18'6''. i am to long to pull behind my 5th wheel. so far i am leaning toward the tracker deep v that comes 88'' wide. it should be real stable and get around in some bad weather.
REDNECK. and proud of it.
