Bottom bouncing downrigger weights

Looking into making my own downrigger weights for bottom bouncing. Can anyone share the length for respective weights - 6 lb. 8 lb. 10 lb.

It depends on what diameter bar you are going to use. I have a steel manual that will give me the weight per foot of steel rod by diameter. A poor man's version is to just drag some chain or a piece of rebar hung off your regular downrigger weight. The leader on the chain or rebar is lighter than your downrigger cable so that if you hang the bottom, you don't lose the expensive stuff.
