Me and a friend hit causey thursday afternoon from 4 pm til dusk and did fairly well. We ended up boating 6 kokes and loosing a few others. also caught 10 or so small rainbows. kept a limit for the barby.

The kokes came on UV pink hoochies behind matching sling blade @ 20' or so and the trout were slammin the flee bitys long lined, we lost as many trout as we caught.

Nice report, thanks for the post. I've been wanting to get up there for a while. Were you in your smaller boat using riggers? How clear is the water? I guess the lake is still full, so it I won't have to carry the boat too far down the dam.

small boat with riggers and long lining. the lake is full just below the spillway so not far to walk at all but it seems to be receeding. Water clarity was not too bad, a little bit of debris still floating but water was not muddy.

Thanks, I don't have a rigger set up on the boat yet, so hopefully lead core line will work. Last question, were you fishing near the dam or in one of the inlet channels?

We went up the arm to go into the back but no quite into any of the inlet channels and thats where we caught the majority of the fish. I was about 15-20 down on the rigger. I didn't have a fishfinder or counter on the riggers so i am not 100 percent sure.
Good Luck and let us know how you do, i might sneak up there this weekend again myself.

I've got about a 10ft fiberglass boat (bass hound boat) that two people could carry a little ways. is there any chance that I could launch it up there? I've been to Causey a few times but always when the water is way down and there are some steep banks. any advice on getting a boat in of that size would be helpful. Thanks for the report.

You wil have no problems with a 10ft fiberglass boat. we carry in a 14ft aluminum that has bench seats in it. The water is high so you do not have to carry it far.

So is the best place to launch up by the scout camp or would turning right at the dam and going down that road be the best place?

    thanks,

I went over the dam and drove all the way back down that arm and it was easy to launch there.
