It's going to be mid June before it really is fishable.

Is it June yet? I'm sure missing our spring Koke fishing. We are only going to get 2.5 months this year at the rate we are going.

No kidding, It will be a short season. I changed one of my weeks of vacation and moved it back.(into what I hope will be better fishing) Seem like spring fishing is simply gone! Still frozen over at Henry's and I.P. Muddy and brown at Ririe

I feel your pain down south of your border. High flowing rivers breaking over the banks and muddy fishing holes.

    Just checked the water at Blacktail. Its not pretty Blue but;

If one fishes between the S curves and the dam, you should find fishable water. There is still color in the water, but it should be changing quickly.

Don was right with the middle of June prediction for more ideal water.

But for those who just cant wait, think lake trolls off of your down rigger weights and some of the other technics that you would use during low light conditions when the water is clear.

Good Luck, I plan on giving it a try at Ririe next weekend. By the way, despite the wind, the temperature up there was OK. A sweat shirt and windbraker would work fine!

Yaba daba do Time to fish I THINK

Fished Ririe this morning. Another 3 weeks and I'll try it again. The water is just to dirty for a bite to come on.

    Default Still no good

And to Don guess I missed you i got up to late so decided to give it the late attack. I started fishing about 3 I guess, 4 hours and one trout was it tried all the good stuff. Hey I'm looking for a 357 to take out some off the hot rods on the lake, ya know the ones that go by 20 feet full blast.

Why anyone would let their kids ski with all the junk in the water is beyond my understanding. I had to tow one of the hot rodders in. I think that Ririe may just be the hub for dummies on water.

I love it when they go by full blast a rods distance away and then wave.

    Question Muddy Water

So how does all this muddy water affect the fish? Are they still eating and growing or what?

For the most part they are to deep to be eating. Most of the fish are at 35 to 50' in water that light can't penetrate more than probably 10' in enough quantity to grow plankton. I saw one fish jump in 8 hours of trolling the last time out. The fish that are trying to find food are at 24' on the wire.

    BAD NEWS,

Talked to a guy who was above Willow Creek. He said that it was heavy muddy and pouring into the reservior again. It may be Mid July before good fishing. What a year!

Any body make it up there this weekend? Planning on going up there Friday to do some fishing and craw-fish diving, wondering what the water conditions are (temp, clarity).

fished today 7-18 on ririe. Managed to land 11 kokes for two of us. Caught 1 that is starting to turn. fish were caught between 35 and 47ft. Water looks pretty good and is 71.

    Default Good Action Saturday

July 24th (Saturday) the wife and I caught our limits on Kokes. 1 at 16 inches and the balance were between 12 to 14 inches. My wife lost the largest one we have every hooked in Ririe Res. Wish it was a picture rather than a story.

Lots of feed in the fish. Next year could be a banner year. We shall see.

Used RMT dogers, (standard 5 inch blade with Pink stripe down the middle) and any thing attached to them that was in the pink or orange color range worked well. Didn't matter what I used, hoochies, bugs or killers.

What made the difference was the length of the leader. Around 10 " work the best.

The fish are definelty responding to aggresive movement.

Water temp close to 70 degrees on the surface, depth> most fish caught between 40ft and 50 ft.

Thousands of small fish Hovering between 70 and 90 ft.

One fish with a slight color change so a couple weeks , or less left for fishing for 3 year old fish, would be a guess.

    Tight lines!

Fished Ririe this morning and it Rocked! Took a while to narrow down what they wanted . . . the usual fare wouldn't even get a bite. After trying about a dozen patterns I think the fish and I have an understanding now!
