    Default Dave's Chili Con Gato

Okay, it doesn't really have any cat in it but I like the name.

After searching for chili recipes, I took parts of a few different ones and came up with my own. Tastes pretty darn good and just makes your nose start to run.

    Dave’s Chili

    4 lbs cubed stew meat
    2 lbs chorizo
    1 lrg onion
    ˝ green bell pepper
    ˝ yellow bell pepper
    1 Tbsp minced garlic
    1 1/2 bottles beer – medium ale
    1 can beef broth
    1 – 4 oz. can green chiles
1 – 16 oz. jar of your favorite salsa
1 pkg. McCormick Tex-Mex Chili mix
2 ea. Chopped chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
    1 – 6 oz. can tomato paste
    2 Tbsp cooking oil

Brown chorizo, drain grease and set aside. Cube stew meat into consistent 1” to 1 ˝” cubes and brown in the cooking oil in a large stock pot. Once beef is browned, add chopped onion, peppers, garlic, beer and beef broth and simmer for 30 – 35 minutes or until beef is tender. Then add remaining ingredients, including cooked chorizo and simmer an additional 10 – 15 minutes.

I had a good laugh with the name SuperD. When I was in Spanish classes in school I tried to work the phrase "hamburgesa del gato" in any assignment I could to see if the teacher was really reading the homework.

    Sounds good.

Is the beer for the chili or the cook ::

Mack, cook gets 1/2 of the first bottle and the rest goes in the chili.
