We fished Elk Creek yesterday. The fish were scattered and the bite was slow. The fish are still bright silver, no sign of color change.

We found nice fish in Elk Creek last Monday but the smoke put an early end to our day. We were surprised that the the eggs in the females were still immature for this late in the in the year. Sure...
Thank you, rem. Maybe I'll chase chinook for a couple of days.
Has anyone fished Deadwood lately? Any fire activity there?
You just destroyed a perfectly good theory. Good job!
Past discussions tend to concur that increased flow through the dam tends to kill the bite. Our experience agrees with this theory.
Thanks for posting, Rick. That's a report only a biologist could love (I know because my fishing partner is one)! Bottom line, the fertilization program has worked exceptionally well with no apparent...
We were out a month ago. Most of them were 9 inches, none bigger.
Now that's a cabin cruiser on a budget. Good for you!
The one fish looks quite a bit bigger than the others.
Sounds like you have the basics. Depth is very important. We were on the lake last Thursday prepared to fish up high (left downriggers at home) and experiment with side planers to get our lures away...
We are still having good success in the Canyon Creek area. Downriggers at 25 feet, long lines with 1 oz at 70 to 100 feet.
We fished Sunday with good success. Everyone on the lake had nets out. Since 12000 CFS is being released from the dam, I guess we can bury the theory that the bite stops while they are dumping water.
Thank you for the excellent report, we are very happy to see that you had a good day. Water flow through the dam was dropped on May 9. Coincidence?
We had similar results, two weeks ago we had a good day and Thursday we caught two. Water temperatures were the same both trips. On April 15 they began releasing 10,000 CFS (not a tremendous amount)...
We went yesterday. Took most of the day to find them but when we did we had two good hours. Put 9 in the cooler and lost more than that. Biggest were 11 inches, others were 9-10.
We were down...
Thanks for the report, Jim.
letsgo's report should give you everything you need to know.
I can't verify that it is true but I heard that the road into the Canyon Creek ramp is closed. ???
We fished for several hours yesterday and caught one fish. We worked Freeman Creek, Canyon Creek, Indian Creek, Dicks Creek, and Elk Creek. Surface water temp was 54 degrees.
Ken: Water was in very good shape, no debris. We never know from one trip to the next whether long lines or downriggers will work the best. A lot of times it changes during the day. We were going to...
We fished Dworshak for the first time this year last Thursday. We put 6 in the cooler, the biggest was 12" the others were 10". We made passes near the dam and Indian/Canyon creeks. Talked to a group...

Hi Ken and Barb. We haven't been there yet but Toby Wyatt in his recent newsletter said that he caught a limit of 25 between 10 and 13 inches long. His letter had a picture and they looked nice and...
Rick, we were at Grandad 2-1/2 weeks ago. We caught lots of fish and they were not turning red but that could be changing now. Let us know how you do.

Thanks for the excellent report, Rick. We have had similar results. It has been a fun year.
