Since some of us now turn to making rather than using/losing tackle, has anyone had very good luck using blue lures for kokanee? Blue is supposed to be visible deeper than red, so I was just wondering if it might be a good color to try next year. Thoughts or experience?

I know of a few people that have used blue and orange spinners. I have had some success with purple. It is always worth a try.

It has its days. I have better luck with it mid summer on, probably because I am going deeper with it. Black and blue combo and pink and blue combo is what I like to run. Blue and chartreuse can also get hot.

I have had some luck with Kokabow Dodger in "Blue Back". It looks a little like a kokanee. It is not my favorite, but I have caught fish on it.

Dave's light blue and pink has been copied by almost every mfg there is. LOL It fishes well at the Gorge!

My go to color has been the color blue... black is also a great choice. Darker colors have more contrast down deep. Of course with kokanee some days you end up using every color in the tackle box... 101duh101

Ready to get wet. If you were a fish would you bite it?

How did you get the spattered look on the blades? They look great!

The splatter can be achieved with an airbrush choking it down where it's spitting. It can also be achieved using a spray bottle.

Lots of things work. Coarse sponge, cotton ball, end of a frayed rope. I spray rattle can paint into a paper bowl and dab. Do some pre dabs first to get the amount of paint on the end of your tool to look how you want.
