I have decided to replace my 2005 Yamaha 60hp four stroke with a new 90hp four stroke. My local Dealer gave me a quote and they will be taking my 60hp as a trade in. Now that we are close to making the deal I have started to ask about specifics like which Yamaha engine controller comes with the package and they told me that I will not get a new controller. They said that one does not come from Yamaha with the engine and I need to use my old one or purchase a new one. That just does not sound right to me and I think they might be trying to keep the new one that comes with the engine. (If in fact one does) If anyone has experince or knowledge of what comes from the factory please let me know. They also said the engine does not come with the Dash gauge. i.e. Tach, Idiot lights and tilt trim gauge and I will be using my old one also. Thanks for any help on this matter.

they are right the base eng ( I am assuming you are looking at the mid range f90 ) has the tiller configuration so you will need the control and gages they are also having a 5year extended warrenty no cost to you make sure you get that. or a 300 dollar credit I would go for the warranty here's there current promotion http://yamahaoutboards.com/current-promotion
and there controls http://yamahaoutboards.com/rigging/controls. some times you can get a bigger bang for the buck by going to the 115 eng they are more popular. ether way I would shop around. dfly

Yes, a F90LA. Thanks for the information Dragon. They have not mentioned the promos and I like the warranty suggestion. Three hundred dollars does not get a guy to far in repairs if needed. I would go for a larger engine but a 90hp is the maximum rated hp for my 160 Sportsman. For some reason I do not understand I tend to follow the rules more then I did in my younger years. Thanks again; OneDogShort.
