With the colder winter, I am sure the water is still pretty cold. Does anyone have an idea when the kokanee fishing will pick up enough to make it worth while to go after them?

I am sure that one could pick up a few rainbow anyway though, so it wouldn't be a loss. Thanks

I visited over the Memorial Day weekend, yet it was too windy to fish...
Water was very low.
Rumor has it, they are small this year.
Historically, June, July and August are the best months for kokes.

I was there on Friday 5/31, started late, water 57 degrees, wind started blowing about 11, 1 small koke, 1 RB, and a bass? Was off the water by 12:30. This was my fourth trip to Pede this year, they haven't started to heat up for me, what I have caught were small 10-11 inch.

I'll be back out there this week, I'm going to keep the pressure on :-)

A word to the wise...
In my experience, high elevation Kokes are very light sensitive. Be on the lake and fishing around 4:30AM in the vicinity of the Upper Truckee Arm and around the point. Well charged glow dodgers and lures get their attention.
Once the sun hits the water, things change; I set everything back about 75-100'

Early season can be productive for casting small jigs (Castmasters) along the shoreline for Kokes, as they are keying in on emerging insects. This is one of the only lakes I have seen people catching them from the shoreline, though I'm sure there are many more...

Keep hitting on it, and please let us know when the bite starts to heat up. The lake is about 4 hrs away for me...

Yeah, I get the working part. Luckily I'm done with that. I was out today and off the water at 7:00AM with my limit. Both days I was getting bit on Sep's pink hoochies tipped with Anis Plus corn. Did best off the point at 30 to 40 feet. Everyone seemed to be catching. Size is 11-12 inch.
