One of my electric down riggers is not working correctly. The clutch is not letting the ball drop. Is there someone in the Boise Idaho area that works on these? any suggestions? Thanks

These are very easy to work on yourself. Download a manual from Scotty and it will tell you exactly how to adjust the tension.

Also, if it was working before correctly, it might be bound up. Take the cap off and try releasing it with someone pulling on the cable. It might just need to get past the the pinched cable and rewound.

Just saw this post, like said above they are very easy to work on. Once pulled apart hit the pads and clutch surface with a scotch brite to clean em up and should be good to go. If not they have an awesome warranty and can be rebuilt very easily, with the exception of the motor itself.

I just bought two scotty 1099's have them set up on a 27 group bat. deep cycle will that battery last all day? I know it matters how much I use it but just on average use will it last?

If your battery is fully charged it will last all day.

Ball won't drop. What weight ball? I tried using my 1099 with 4lb weights and they wouldn't deploy. Switched to 7.5lb and all is good.

Like Bonkinkokes said, if your batteries are fully charged and your DR weights are heavy enough you should have no problem. I use either 8# or 10# DR weights on my Scotty 1099's.

I took the downrigger apart, couldn't see any thing wrong. Put it back together and ran my downriggers to a battery by itself,(it was hooked up to the fish finder and the engine. Currently everthing is working fine. Thanks guys for all your help.
