My wife, her friend Allison and I fished Whiskeytown Friday and Saturday for a sum of a dozen kokes and approx. 2 dozen rainbows. The conditions were perfect and our optimism was high going in but slowly started to erode as each koke we would catch was between 8" and 10". I ultimately stopped fishing for kokes and raised the lines to rainbow level just to prevent full on depression. The water temps were 62 - 63 degrees. The small kokes we did catch were in the 23' to 25' range on the wire and were caught covering almost every square inch of the lake. Oh, almost forgot, we also caught a couple kings around 12" out in the very middle of the lake between the bridge and the dam at 40' on the wire. With great conditions, we did have a great time with good food and lots of laughs.

Here is my new boat menu item of upside down peach cinnamon rolls.

SD,

Nice pics. and good to hear you got out with family & friends. Too bad on the size of fish. That's a long drive for "Pardink" size kokes. Other than Berry, it's seems most lakes have got a problem with size this year. It's still a bit early but just look at Melones right now. Same problems there as with Pardee in the past. Too many mouths to feed has led to smaller fish. We saw this coming for the past 2 years and after what happened at Pardee warned those in charge of over planting and now we see the result. Sometimes us anglers know more than the experts. Now if we could only get them to listen.
