I read somewhere there are Macks in LP. Does anyone fish for them?

I do not believe that to be the case based on the last 10 years of historical stocking.

They planted 17,000+ in 1997 and another 1000+ in 1998, but I don't think they have reproduced naturally in the lake, nor have I heard of anyone catching any recently. I am not saying that they are not in there, I just have not heard or seen any for quite some time.

I have spent three full days a few years ago looking for macs. Using my Payette Lake tried and true methods. I was graphing what could easily have been macs in one area, but nothing. I said never again! I have never heard of one being caught, and at Payette, for example, we have caught many macs over the years while fishing for kokanee with a triple teaser. You would think there would be some incidental catches. Mike

This is what F&G shows as historical stocking in LP of Macs...I personally have talked to a couple guys who claim they caught or saw one caught...enormous ones too BTW...I myself would love to get one but havent yet either...its on my list of to do's...maybe soon. Gotta be some left in there, and since noone fishes for them it shouldnt be too hard to get one.

Never heard of Macks in Lucky peak but I have caught Atlantic Salmon at around 18inches. Inside the mouth the Atlantic Salmon mouth is black. Have spent 50plus years fishing in lucky peak. Born and raised in Boise.
Here is what seems to be your Alantic Salmon in Lucky Peak

I never heard of anything else planted Except Atlantic Salmon. Back in those years mentioned. The fishes mouth was black. It wasn't a Trout or Kokanee so what the Hell was it. I've caught plenty of Macks in Payette Res. It wasn't a Mack either. There also some in Anderson Ranch.
Could only find Coho and Chinook planted in Arrowrock in 1998 or earlier

They call chinooks blackmouths for that reason. We have caught some in the 3 lb range in the past, but it has been a while

If I can add/help in Oregon they started a stocking program with two large lakes, Detroit Res & Green Peter Res they planted 200,000 smolt for two years every thing was fin clipped. these fish were Spring Chinook not Atlantic Salmon, Springers we have caught fish in the 10 pound range but they are gone. We have not been able to target them in the last few yrs. I personnel contact ODFW FOR THESE ANSWER. If you have black mouth salmon they are probable spring chinnook
