I've been working on adding a dual use station on the back of my boat for using a new fish finder and a 5th downrigger when guests require. I decided to try and use a V-Lock bracket because I could interchange the uses very easily.

These photos are for Ryno. Ryno, the unsupported bracket had a little too much flex for me so I added a gusset. Much stiffer now.

I opted for the Ram mount so I could lay it down for travel. This makes it easy to adjust it for the sun conditions and out of the way of the travel top.

This conveniently snaps on and off for travel.

Great fab job. Do you get any splash from the back of the boat that would damage the FF? What are the other covers for beside the FF bracket?

Bill, I have an offshore bracket and the FF site behind the motor for the most part.

When this bracket is being used, the one cover to the right of the bracket is the power outlet for the downrigger and the other cover houses the FF power and transducer cable.

That's a great idea Dave! I'm going to go home and look at my mounts and see if I could just spin them, add a support bracket, and still be able to work around the riggers. Ryno

Me, I have two depth finders on my boat. At the drivers seat or Dash I have a 20/20 Interphase. When trolling or sitting in the back trolling, I have a Lowran on my rail.

After looking at my mount, flipping them around (and adding a support bracket) won't work as I have two flip up seats that wouldn't be functional. Not sure if I told you, or the pics I sent showed you, but I did add a thick rubber pad (1/4") to the bottom of my mounting plate. It made the rest on the gunnel significantly tighter and my riggers now don't move much. Time and use will now dictate the performance.

Hindsight, I think I would have welded my downrigger mounting plate to the V-lock 90-degree insert so the plate was centered right over the V-lock sleeve mount. That would've put the weight right over the mount and reduced the amount of movement either way. Your remedy is a great option too and would've worked if I had mounted the V-locks only a couple of inches forward.

Thanks Dave! Ryno
