My uncle and I made our first Kokanee trip of the season, and it was a WFO bite for us. We had lines in the water shortly before 7 am, and I was putting away my gear just before 8:30. It was fun. All our fish were 13 inch cookie cutters and didn't find any of the bigger 14 and 15 inch fish.
Setups: Copper/pink Vance dodgers with pink squids, pink RGTs, and pink Uncle Larry spinners (the fish didn't want anything to do with Orange)
Depth: 17 to 30 feet OTW (25 feet was the best)
We decided that 8:30 was too early to make the trek home, so I brought out the bass gear that I brought along just in case. My uncle threw crankbaits and spinnerbaits, but they didn't show any interest in them. I threw a Lucky Craft 128 Pointer minnow and caught a dozen fish (both largemouth and spots). The best 5 went about 12 pounds. I lost a couple others that spit the hooks somehow after jumping a foot in the air. I would estimate they were about 3 pounds or so.
We finally went home around 11:30 to the windy valley.
