A couple of weeks ago out on starvation smoke started coming out of the base plate where the control board is located. I lost the ability to change the speed of the motor after that, it goes all out or nothing. The powerdrive model is an adjustable speed with out set speeds. I replaced it with another control board that is a replacement for the original (part number is different ). How hard could it be to replace. I just disconnected one wire and connected it to the same place on the new board. After reconnecting power to the control board I blew the inline circuit breaker and looked at new wiring diagram only to find out it is wired different. Now with the new control board I only have one speed, all or nothing. Did I short out the new control board to act like the old one or is their something else wrong with the motor.

Smoke from incident #1 would tell me you probably had a short from the outset. Replacing the board didn't address the original problem. Just a guess.
