I just booked my first steelhead trip on the Rogue River for the end of October. My wife wanted to do something special for our anniversary so we decided on a cabin over looking the Rogue River near Grants Pass, Or. Anybody familiar with the area and have any advice?

I have floated or run nearly the entire river in my jet from Grants Pass to the ocean.
I usually the fish the lower 36 miles around the 1st of the year. There are fish through out the river, I have just concentrated on the lower river.
The Rogue is fairly wild in some spots, are you going fishing in your boat or a drift boat or raft?
A drift boat can't or should not go in many parts of the river. The flow should rather low in Oct., which will make some easier and other parts harder, depending on what type of boat your in.
If you are interested, here are a couple of videos my jet boat club runs.
This is from 2009(feb)it only 10 minutes long or so but is 220MB.
