Fished Wallowa Lake over the weekend. The weather was nasty in the late morning with wind pushing everyone off the lake. We did manage to land some nice Kok's ( 7 total for 2 rods ) the biggest was 23" @ 5lbs. The fish were scattered and took some time to find on sonar. We fished from 45 ft. down to over 100 ft. The largest fish was hooked at 95 ft. All fish were caught with custom made spinners using chartruse cut glass beads and a chartruse spinner blade with a green dot.

How big are you seeing in Merwin, Smokin' Kokes? What we caught were just little fella's, about 11" or so. Not that there's anything wrong with little fella's, there as welcome as any, but I am curious what kind of sizes you've been seeing out of there. Maybe I need to look over more of the lake.

the April average this year is running 12", at least 2" larger than the normal Merwin March April size. plus they are fat for this time of year, usually the late winter-spring fish out of Merwin are skinny thin rails.
we may see some 18"s out of Merwin this year because of the extra feed.

Yale, because of mass koke production by the great spawning streams and their environmental protection, has real pip squeaks.
a good late season average is 10" but it's like dipping smelt on a good day.

Kokarod69,
At least you got into them!

Aprox. how long did it take you from Vancouver to get there? As I'm feeling a need for a road trip!

Thanks,
Winterun

Nice Fish and good post. I guess my next investment needs to be a camper for my truck. This is a little too far for me to do it in a day trip.

Winterun, the drive from Vancouver took about 5 hrs 15 mins, with 1 stop for gas in Pendleton.

Thanks KokaRod69!
That means it would be close to 7 1/2 hrs for me. Well a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do.

Thanks,
