Well it's no secret these days that Koke fishing has begun in California at Lake Berryessa and the driving factor is some big fish up to 17 inches. This last Sat was a killer day for some so of course my curiosity got the best of me for a Sunday trip. It wasn't catch limit fest as we had hoped but we can't complain with 4 quality Kokes and 5 other dinkers that tried to step up to the plate. Our table fare was 14 to 16 inches and they were biting things pink in Hoochies / Spinners and RGT's for us. Fish we 6-24ft. We couldn't keep a line in the water for the first 30 minutes and then the big boy bite died for us and the little guys pestered us for the rest of the time. Here's a few pics of our fish:

I was out there today with a few buddies and the 4 of us managed 15 fish with about 1/2 of those being on the small side. Pink Splatter seemed to be the ticket and 13' - 20' was the most productive. It isn't quite wide open yet. Guys posting big numbers and limits have to be sitting smack dab on top of them. A few guys are getting lucky and finding the tight group of fish, it can't be very big.

Thanx HTK and SD for the great reports. I'm pretty excited about my first koke trip this season. Its been since like November since I had my last bbqed koke. Unless the weather report drastically changes I will be out Saturday bright and early giving it a shot.

Any of you guys launch at Capell? Anything I should know about, or is it same as always?

Thanx,
Old School

Looks good, Kevin.
I'm trying to be patient waiting for Melones to kick in. But I know they'll be too small right now, so I don't even want to try here yet.

Froggie - I heard rumor of a 16 inch fish caught at Melones but third party info so I'll take it with a grain of salt. Maybe it's one of those years with some big fish early like a couple of years ago.

Let us know how you do do GonTroln. Of course you are already fishing probably with a couple in the box.

Nothing wrong with those fish. I still have to wait 4 weeks before I get vie for the silver bullets.
