I will be fishing Grand Lake, CO Aug 13-15. I've never fished there and would like to know where in the lake to fish for kokanee and trout; also what depth, lures etc. Thanks for any info.

I was at Grand Lake a couple of weeks ago and after a day of trial and error I caught 3 Kokes (30 to 35 Fow) and a nice Laker at 90 ft. Kokes were biting on Rocky Mountain Tackle Dodgers trailing UV Pink Apex lures. Also could try uv squids and hoochies tipped w/white shoepeg corn. Fish middle of lake straight out from Marina, troll towards boat ramp at end of lake opposite Shadow mountain bridge at 25 to 40 Ft. Kokes were a little small but tasted great as always. Good Luck,

How'd you do at grand lake?

Caught 4 kokanee, 1 rainbow, 1 brown, and 1 laker (a grand slam?).
Fished @ 250 feet water depth on the western side sort of in front of the marina. Fishing depth was @ 4 colors lead line (incl the laker)(nothing at 90 feet on downrigger). Lures were: a mackslure imperial spoon and a kokanee killer.
Don't know when I'll be going back though; I live in Grand Jct.

About 10-12 inches. Have you been fishing there lately? Anywhere else? I'd like to try Blue Mesa sometime but am not sure if my 14 foot boat would handle it and don't know where there to fish?

Thanks for the response. My grand lake kokes were 12 to 14 " also. I'd love to get out to Blue Mesa before the season is over. I have a 19' Tracker that works great just about anywhere in Colorado. I am trying to find time to sneak away. I'm in Colorado Springs.
