New to Utah (In the Air Force)…new to Kokanee fishing @ FG…How much line is everyone letting out behind your weights? I’m sure the ? has been answered on this incredible site, but I don’t have the time to read all the posting (winter catch-up)…Gotta go Fishing…

Cheers

First off let me say welcome, and thank you for your service to our country.thumbsup As to how far behind the weight, there is no written rules in stone. I use what I call the 100's,as a guide line. If your dropping down ten feet,i put the lure 90ft off the weight. If dropping down 20ft then go 80 back etc, etc,. If fishing shallow the fish will be easily spooked by the boat and motor. With the longer set backs your offerings will come in behind the fish, as they move back in behind the boat after it has passed. This will hopefully produce a hit . As temps rise during the day,the fish will move deeper into the water column looking for their comfort zone. As they go deeper you can shorten your set back. Good luck..
