How many of you use worms early in the year for kokanee. Some days early in in the spring in Oregon, worms can be a very effective Kokanee bait. It seems after June the Kokanee have no interest in them.

I caught some nice kokes last August on large night crawlers. I don't know what to think about worms, except that it might be tough to keep the trout off of the hook.

Maybe it is the lakes I fish, but I rarely catch trout kokanee fishing and don't notice a difference when using worms.

Do you go to a smaller hook when using worms or stay with the #4/#2? Also you use the term worm, does that include the larger nightcrawlers?

I've always used worms trout fishing, and corn for kokanee. I might give the worms a try though. Are you useing them trolling or jigging?
On a side note...how did the maggots do last year?

meal worms are a huge koke favorite at the gorge.

I don't use worms/crawlers for kokes. It's always been corn and/or maggots with various pro-cure scents.
