Yes, ice is good! it can freeze the day after hunting season ends.

new batteries in the Vexilars, check.

Marcum camera returned to Marcum for "issues", check.

Several new spools of line to go on the ice reels, check

New spark plugs, fresh fuel and test run on augers, check.

Sent my Showdown in for the upgrade last week....
Got my new Ice Gator Charged and ready
been buying lures here and there...

Still got a few Bulls and Kamloops to catch up in Koocanusa though...

I'm getting ready....Hunting season is counting down and then it will be time to start getting ready. I'm sure that the weather this week will get my itch really going!!

Spent last Thursday in Glacier fishing Lake McDonald. Lat year some kokes where caught jigging right off the dock in front of the lodge. None there yet, did catch a bunch of lakers casting big spoons though. Probably try it again this week.

Last week, divers in Lake McDonald said they're starting to see salmon, we didn't not catch any! Tons of fish on the finder though. Only caught more lake trout.

Jim, I have been told there is a trick to catching the Kokanee out of Lake McDonald...I just haven't been told what that trick is!!!

I honestly have not caught one yet, but the guy I went with worked up there last winter, and he caught the kokes right off the dock all the time he was there. Not fast and furious mind you, but several every time. Nice ones for around here.

Jim you must have been fishing with Dan! I can confirm that he was catching them off of the dock at lunch last year.

Have you ever hit Browns, by Ovando?

Oh boy, there is some trout in there! Been a long time for me, kind of a ways to go for a day trip. Some friends have a cabin by the substation at Cozy Corner, but the packrats have pretty much taken over and destroyed it.
We used to go down there Superbowl week and hang out, fish, drink, etc. None of us care about football.

ive fished there 5 or 6 times last year thru the ice and countless times by boat in the summer just no luck for me it seems like people are catching fish there but me. SKUNKED thats all i can say i'd love to fish for kokanee thru the ice.

During the summer time i fish placid and catch kokanee.

OK Boys, I have fished one time on lake Placid last year and I really liked it...caught some nice perch and didn't realize there were Kokanee in that lake until I was getting ready to leave... Maybe we should plan a meet and greet down at Placid...Im also active on IceShanty.com and there are more and more Montanans on there...you two should check it out
