Led Zep is a good one. How about some AC/DC or even a relatively newer band like Nickelback. Not that either is the greatest of all time but they have both pumped out some great tunes.

There was nothing quite like a High School slow dance to Stairway to Heaven.

My regular cruising bands were AC/DC and Foreigner. College, I mellowed to Journey.

when I think of greatest the Beatles and Rolling Stones come to mind.

Personally I really like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeplin, Bob Seger.

Is nobody going to mention Van Halen! Come on...Eddie still plays that guitar like it was the late 70's. Fill that in with other groups like Plant, Joan Jett, Benatar, The Cars, Billy Squier, G&R and some Zepplin and I'm happy. The wife and I got into Creed on Jared's boat when in the Gorge so I let them into my old school genre. Ok on the pop side I'll still listen to Madonna when nobody is around!

Too many to list, however, if it was from the 60's, 70's, & some of the 80's, I'm there for it. Not much into the rap. Got into a lot of the country rock in the mid 90's to present and on occasion I throw in my version of the oldies. So far no one is disappointed with my choice of music while in my boat. And i'm not disappointed with there's.

Hands down it has to be CCR. You can listen to any of their vinals all day long and not get tired. On the Hard side I would def go with Metallica and Godsmack. Lighter wimpyer side Journey, Boston and LoverBoy, Glammer I gotta go with Poisen, Over all CCR has my Vote.

For me it is hands down, Pink Floyd. With that being said, I think there were a lot of great bands from the late 60's to mid 70's (my favorite era in music).

This is the golden oldies era now with 60's & 70's music. Now the rap era is getting closer to being the golden oldies. 101flip101

I would say IMO, it would have to be the early EAGLES hands down for greatest, although I loved many of the bands mentioned. Second place for me was Grand Funk Railroad, loved I'm Your Captain. Then The Doobie Brothers. Of course Zepplin, The Stones, Clapton, and Deep Purple, also liked Uriah Heep favorite song "Steelin". There were so many great bands back then, it was one of the greatest times in USA history to grow up. Cheap gas, low insurance rates , muscle cars, and great Rock-n-Roll.

IMO... Talk about "greatest rock band's" of all time could be numerous.
Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, RUSH "yea, RUSH!!, Stones, ELP, King Crimson, AC/DC, Beach Boys, ETC... But as far as "Greatest Rock Band" hands down:
THE BEATLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To do what they did in less than 10 years is amazing and will NEVER be duplicated. Their influence on music could never be matched. Love them or hate them, facts are facts!!

All the bands listed were stapels of the fm radio dial in the late 70's. I really like listening to Ten Years After, there live at the Filmore east is probably the best live album ever produced.
