I've looked at quite a few websites and fishing stores, but can't find boxes of 100 hooks at a decent price. Maybe I'm too old school, but I've been using a LOT of hooks tying up gear for next season, and paying 22-30 cents a hook seems high to me. violin

for the time it takes me to tie up the tandem snells, and with what the materials cost, I just go with these pre tied leaders at under 85 cents a pop:

cant hardly buy the materials for that, and I like to think my time is worth more than the nickel or dime I might save

...oh and also because I'm horrible at getting the spacing right on my snells! hehehe

I'm assuming those are GamaKatsu hooks.

Also, how is the Macoy line they use? I've always tied mine with 8lb Ultragreen.

Thanks for the tips, guys. Barlows.com is an investment business.
I looked at the other sites and didn't find what I was looking for.
As far as my time being worth something....I like tying my own gear.
I sit in front of the TV at night, and tie away. It's good therapy. Also, not working has made me reevaluate the value of my time. I used to make big bucks. Now I don't. As far as supporting the advertisers on this site, I have spent over $600 with them in the last few months just on tackle. I don't mind supporting them...I just want someone to offer the hooks I'm looking for at a decent price on a website where I can find them easily. So far, I haven't seen a place like I'm seeking.

One other source with good prices is Hagen's. $13.95 / 100.

http://www.hagensfish.com/2008catalog/10596Hagens145-152.pdf

Go to page 148.

I too like to make up my own hooks and the kids like to help as we tend to get creative and throw a bead / jewel or a RGT mini or other things in-between just to be different. Also I like to vary the second hook length just for fun as well.

Hey Kevin,

Thanks...that's more like it. Too bad they don't sell a mix of colored hooks for us Koke guys to try out. But that's a decent deal for Gamakatsus.

I just got off the phone with Hagen's. There is a 10% federal excise tax on orders. Something to do with being a manufacturer rather than just a dealer. Minimum order is $50, but it was waived for a first-time customer. I also looked at some of their other hooks, and prices seem to drop a lot if you can order 1000 hooks at a time. I didn't verify this with the hooks we use...just price-checked the other hooks that came 1000 to a pack. Prices were in the 4 to 5 cent range.

Thanks, that's good to know. That's alot of hooks, but at that price it's pretty hard to pass up. It would be a great deal for 2 people to split an order.thumbsup

I know this is an old post but here is my source for bulk hooks:

http://www.shortyshooks.com/ ( wholesale: need tax id )

http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/ ( consumer based )

I have purchased several thousand hooks from Shorty's. Always quick turnaround.
