Default Newbie tips for the Pig

    Hi all,

I've been trying to hunt down kokanee for sometime now, but have, as of yet, been unsuccessful. I'm from Cache Valley, so the nearest water to me is Porcupine, so that is where I have tried so far. I am a fly fisherman generally, but am open to fishing with other methods. Unfortunately, I don't have a boat, I do have a pontoon boat with oars though, so trolling could be possible. I have tried the pig through the ice and in soft water, and have caught some nice browns, but still no Kokanee. I am planning on going up this summer with the pontoon boat, I am thinking about taking tackle to troll with, and some gear for jigging, but I'm open to any methods or suggestions. Thanks for any help!

Try vertical jigging with buzz bombs.
You could get some lead line and troll dodgers and squids. Get down to about 40' deep either way.
